WHO 2024 data call for antifungals in the preclinical development pipeline

  18 May 2024

The World Health Organization (WHO) is reviewing its antifungal clinical and preclinical pipeline to evaluate global preparedness against fungal infections and antifungal resistance. The WHO’s fungal priority pathogens list (FPPL) identifies 19 fungi as the greatest threat to public health. The WHO is inviting developers to share information on their preclinical research projects to strengthen the global response to invasive fungal diseases. The 2024 data call aims to collect data on antifungal agents in the preclinical development pipeline, which includes lead optimization, preclinical candidates, and formal CTA/IND enabling studies before human testing. The data will be available for stakeholders, including existing and future funders of R&D, through the WHO Global Health R&D Observatory.
