Unravelling the interplay of antimicrobial resistance and stress response in the saline desert metagenomes of Gujarat, India

  04 April 2025

The study analyzed the metagenome of a saline desert in Kutch, Gujarat, to identify common antimicrobial resistance. It found various antibiotic resistance genes in Escherichia coli EF-Tu mutants, exhibiting resistance to various compounds. The study also identified the vanW and vanY genes, which are crucial for salt tolerance and antibiotic resistance. The study highlights the adaptability of these organisms, even in pristine, human-untouched environments, and the environmental impact on their distribution.
