Understanding gender inequities inantimicrobial resistance: role of biology,behaviour and gender norms

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant public health threat, driven by antibiotic misuse, inadequate infrastructure, and poor infection control practices. Gender discrimination exacerbates these issues, leading to disparities in healthcare access and outcomes. This review identifies biological, sociocultural, and behavioral factors contributing to AMR incidence in women, emphasizing the need for gender-sensitive approaches and inclusive policies.
