TARGetAMR is a research network that will enhance AMR genomics by fostering collaboration across various disciplines for both human and animal health. While genome sequencing has proven effective in identifying resistant pathogens and improving practices, its benefits have not yet been fully realised. TARGet will create a self-sustaining community and overcome obstacles in the wide-scale implementation of genomics to reduce AMR. These include the economic justification for widespread genomic surveillance and diagnostics, ethical issues in data handling and applications for artificial intelligence in analysing microbial genomic data, challenges around regulation combined with the fast-moving developments in genomics technologies, and tackling the lack of training and expertise in AMR genomics. Members of TARGet, will be part of large, vibrant transdisciplinary community and have access to monthly webinars, transdisciplinary learning, and developing funding applications.
