Tackling antimicrobial resistance in food and agriculture

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is leading the global response to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the food and agriculture sectors, guided by the FAO Action Plan on AMR 2021-2025. The report outlines FAO’s activities at global, regional, and country levels, highlighting its role in global governance, progress on implementing national action plans, key activities to implement the AMR Action Plan, and key challenges and opportunities related to AMR in the food and agriculture sectors. It emphasizes the need for better evidence, interventions, resources, capacity, and robust governance to reduce AMU, particularly at the country level.
