Skin-deep AMR hotspots in nursing homes

  26 March 2025

The study found that the skin of residents in a skilled nursing facility harbored clonal Candida auris and ESKAPE pathogens, with carbapenemase genes detected on the skin. The researchers also found that pathogens and commensal microorganisms were shared across nursing homes in the Chicago area and other US states.
