Overprescription of antibiotics in Brazilian dental clinics: an evaluation of current practices

A study in Brazil found that dentist surgeons prescribe antibiotics for all surgical procedures, regardless of complexity or patient. However, some professionals lack scientific basis regarding the best therapeutic choice and role of antibiotics. The study emphasizes the urgent need to improve knowledge among Brazilian dentists to reduce antibiotic resistance.
