Consubstantialities of Resistance: labor process, (bio)materialities, and pathogenicity

  26 September 2024

This study explores the relationship between antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the healthcare labor process in São Paulo, Brazil. Interviews with health professionals reveal how work intensification in primary care leads to economies of scarcity, teamwork coerciveness, and AMR virulence and pathogenicity. The study proposes a complex approach to understanding the relational interconnectedness of resistance by incorporating relational tension lines in health interventions and theory.
