Antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of invasive bacterial infections among children from low- and middle-income countries in the Western Pacific Region (WPRO) – a systematic review and meta-analysis

  24 October 2024

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 51 papers from 2011 to 2023 found that Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae meningitis isolates are all susceptible to common infections in children from the Western Pacific region. The study found that the current World Health Organization antibiotics may be ineffective in treating these infections, and strategies to improve the availability of high-quality data to understand the burden of antimicrobial resistance in the region are necessary.
