Antimicrobial resistant enteric bacteria are widely distributed among environmental water sources in Dhaka, Bangladesh

The study found that the prevalence of antibiotics and antimicrobial-resistant enteric bacteria (ARB) in water from various sources is linked to the sources. The study also found that water sources with direct antibiotic exposure had higher rates of genotypic and phenotypic resistance. The findings suggest the need for continuous monitoring and improved treatment of antibiotic and ARB-containing effluents in Bangladesh.
