Antimicrobial resistance of L. monocytogenes from different food commodities: A global status.

  05 November 2024

Listeriosis, a serious foodborne illness, affects individuals with weakened immune systems. Strategies to control listeriosis include food safety education, regular disease follow-up, and early case examination. The precise use of antimicrobials is crucial, but the rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and multidrug resistance (MDR) strains has made the treatment of listerial infections more complex. Monitoring and surveillance of AMR profiles are key to developing successful empirical treatments against L. monocytogenes associated infections. This review chapter summarizes information on AMR of L. monocytogenes isolated from global food commodities.
