AMR Industry Alliance Calls on UN and Member States to Commit to and Advance Bold, Coordinated Action on Antimicrobial Resistance

  27 February 2024

The AMR Industry Alliance, the largest industry group fighting antimicrobial resistance, has launched a call-to-action ahead of the United Nations’ High-level Meeting on AMR in September 2024. The Alliance aims to increase coordination in public and private sectors to combat AMR. Key areas of focus include strengthening responsible manufacturing of antibiotics, transforming the antimicrobial ecosystem, removing barriers to equitable access, and improving the appropriate use of antimicrobials. The Alliance has published an Antibiotic Manufacturing Standard to facilitate responsible manufacturing and has launched the first Minimized Risk of Antimicrobial Resistance certification. The Alliance also calls for the UN and Member States to transform the market for antimicrobials, remove barriers to access, and improve the appropriate use of antimicrobials.
