Event Report HGPI Special Seminar “The Emerging Threat of Antifungal Resistance—Considering Infectious Diseases Caused by Mold and Measures to Combat Drug Resistance”

  18 March 2025

Candida auris, a fungi with antimicrobial resistance, poses a global threat to the WHO and CDC. Japan must prepare for overseas or domestic strains of C. auris. Specialized knowledge and experience are needed for diagnosing and treating mycoses. Programs to educate health professionals on mycoses and strengthen antifungal stewardship support teams are urgent. Citizens must understand the need for fungal infection control and provide microbiology education. Long-term efforts to rebuild infectious disease control and microbiological research as a national infrastructure are also crucial.
