Nanomaterial-Based Drug Delivery Systems in Overcoming Bacterial Resistance: Current Review

  10 March 2025

Antimicrobial resistance is a significant global health concern, threatening the effectiveness of antibiotics and causing morbidity, mortality, and economic burdens. Nanomaterial-based drug delivery systems, including metallic nanoparticles, liposomes, and polymeric nanoparticles, have the potential to improve drug solubility, stability, and targeted delivery. However, ongoing debates on toxicity and environmental impact remain. The review emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary approaches and continuous research to translate these promising technologies into clinical practice. As the fight against bacterial resistance reaches its peak, nanomaterials may be the key to developing next-generation antimicrobial therapies.
