Antimicrobial Resistance in Veterinary Science
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global issue threatening human and animal health, economy, and security. The misuse of antibiotics in human clinical practice, veterinary medicine, and animal agriculture contributes to the development of AMR. By 2050, severe mortality, morbidity, and economic losses are predicted due to AMR. A One Health perspective is needed to manage AMR, considering the interconnectedness of human and animal health and the potential for rapid AMR dissemination.
