Kenya’s National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance: Measuring Implementation Progress

  14 February 2025

Kenya’s multisectoral national action plan (NAP) on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been reviewed by the National Antimicrobial Stewardship Interagency Committee (NASIC) in 2021. The review found that 93% of activities in the NAP-AMR M&E framework for human health were completed or ongoing. Challenges include lack of funding, collaboration difficulties, weak laboratory-clinical interface, erratic supply of supplies, and poor internet connectivity. The next iteration of the NAP-AMR (2023-2027) will focus on strengthening governance arrangements, costing, and advocacy efforts.
