Multidrug antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a significant challenge in treating infectious diseases, particularly gram-negative Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter spp. This review examines the mechanisms driving AMR in these bacteria, including drug uptake limitations, antibiotic-degrading enzyme production, drug target site changes, and enhanced efflux systems.
