Awareness of antimicrobial resistance and appropriate handling of antibiotics by the public in Saudi Arabia: A cross-sectional study using a quiz game
A study in Saudi Arabia found that the public has average knowledge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), with a median score of 6 out of 10. The study used an online quiz game to assess the public’s knowledge and factors associated with optimal knowledge and antibiotic handling. The results showed that 83.2% of the 428 participants had heard of AMR, with higher scores associated with holding a health-related major and prior knowledge of AMR. The study recommends awareness-raising campaigns targeting the public to address AMR.
