Experts Urge Unified Data Systems For AMR Surveillance In India

Ashoka University hosted a workshop on April 10th to highlight the need for Unified Data Systems and Standard Operating Procedures for surveillance of Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) in India. Representatives from organizations like the Indian Council of Medical Research, WHO, and the National Centre for Biological Sciences gathered with partners of the Alliance for Pathogen Surveillance and Innovation (APSI) to develop strategies to combat AMR’s proliferation. The workshop aimed to devise actionable strategies to tackle the burgeoning crisis effectively. The APSI consortium aims to develop advanced pathogen surveillance across different regions of India. Integrating surveillance data into healthcare and environmental systems is a critical recommendation for informed decision-making.
