Meet the Ambassador..

My name is Shamshul Ansari and I am currently Assistant Professor in Microbiology and Immunology at Chitwan Medical College, Bharatpur, Nepal. I obtained my PhD at Oita University Faculty of Medicine, Oita, Japan and have been teaching microbiology and infectious diseases. In research I have a keen interest in AMR and have published several papers in high impact journals. Although a challenging problem across the world AMR is more problematic in developing countries like Nepal. The lack of national guidelines regarding prescription of antibiotics and the lack of sufficient knowledge about consequences of the (mis)use of antibiotics on community level contribute to resistance development. Expert professionals need to work on these issues to combat the antimicrobial resistance development. “Use antibiotics judicially to combat the development of resistance”.

I became a member of the AMR Insights Ambassador Network in 2019. My reasons to get connected to this growing, global network  was that I wanted  to participate in minimizing the AMR burden as well as to receive current information and discussions outputs. From my perspective we need to work more hard to prevent and cirb AMR. It will be good if we as Ambassadors can jointly publish articles in scientific journals.
